Salt-free water treatment, installed by a preferred installer

Coastline Plumbing is a preferred installer for Nuvo H2O whole-house water systems. We handle the full installation, including integration with your water heater.

Hard water carries minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Over time those minerals can leave scale on fixtures, inside pipes and in appliances like your water heater. Nuvo H2O systems are designed to help protect your plumbing and appliances from that scale.

What a Nuvo H2O system is

Nuvo H2O makes salt-free, whole-home water softening systems. According to NuvoH2O, here is how they work:

  • Citrus-based formula. The systems use CitraCharge, NuvoH2O's citrus-based formula, in place of salt.
  • Minerals stay in the water. Through a process called chelation, CitraCharge binds the hard mineral ions so they can't form scale. NuvoH2O says the calcium and magnesium stay in the water in a form that won't cause buildup.
  • Prevents new scale and works on old scale. NuvoH2O says its systems prevent scale from forming and break down existing buildup over time.
  • No salt, no electricity, no backflush. The systems don't use salt bags, don't need electricity and don't send wastewater down the drain. NuvoH2O also describes them as compact and easy to maintain.
  • Cartridge changes instead of salt. The cartridge is typically replaced about every 6 months, depending on usage.

NuvoH2O offers softener-only systems and "Duo" and "Trio" systems that add filtration. It sizes its Manor line for larger homes and its Home line for homes under 1,500 square feet.

Signs your home may have hard water

  • White, crusty buildup on faucets, showerheads and fixtures
  • Spots or film on glass shower doors and dishes
  • Scale buildup in your water heater or other appliances

If you're seeing these, a whole-house water system is worth a conversation.

Nuvo H2O FAQs

What is a Nuvo H2O system?

Nuvo H2O makes salt-free whole-home water softening systems. They use CitraCharge, a citrus-based formula, to bind hard water minerals so they can't form scale on pipes, fixtures and appliances. Some models add filtration. Coastline Plumbing is a preferred installer for Nuvo H2O whole-house water systems.

Does Nuvo H2O remove the minerals from my water?

According to NuvoH2O, no. Its systems keep minerals such as calcium and magnesium in the water and change them into a form that won't cause scaling. A traditional salt-based softener removes those minerals through ion exchange. Ask us which approach fits your home when we assess your setup.

Does a Nuvo H2O system need salt or electricity?

No. NuvoH2O says its systems use no salt and no electricity and don't backflush, so no wastewater goes down the drain. Maintenance is mainly a cartridge change, which NuvoH2O says is typically about every 6 months depending on usage. There are no heavy salt bags to carry.

Will a Nuvo H2O system help my water heater?

NuvoH2O says its systems help protect water heaters, plumbing fixtures and appliances by preventing scale, and that they break down existing scale over time. When Coastline Plumbing installs a whole-house system, we handle integration with your water heater as part of the job.
