Whole-house filtration and conditioning, installed by a preferred installer
Coastline Plumbing is a preferred installer for Halo whole-house water systems. We handle the full installation, including integration with your water heater.
Halo systems filter the water coming into your home and condition hard water minerals so they are less likely to form scale on pipes, fixtures and appliances.
What a Halo system is
HALO Water Systems makes whole-house water filtration and conditioning systems. Its HALO 5 is a whole-house system that runs water through five stages. According to HALO:
- Stages 1 and 2: carbon. Activated carbon and catalytic carbon reduce chlorine and chloramines, along with chlorine taste and odor.
- Stage 3: HALO Ag Plus. A filter media that reduces suspended matter down to the 5 micron range or less, which helps with cloudy water (turbidity).
- Stage 4: garnet. A dense filter media that filters down to the 10 to 20 micron range and supports the other media.
- Stage 5: HALO ION conditioner. A salt-free scale inhibitor that uses permanent magnetic fields so hardness minerals stay suspended in the water instead of attaching to pipes and appliances. HALO says it also helps dissolve existing scale over time.
HALO describes the HALO 5 as maintenance free. It is intended for cold water from municipal water providers. For well water, HALO asks for a current well water analysis before recommending a system.
HALO also makes the HALO Heater Guardian Elite, a stand-alone filter and scale inhibitor for tank and tankless water heaters. HALO says it removes silt, dirt, rust and sediment and helps keep minerals from sticking to water heaters, fixtures and appliances.
Signs a whole-house system may help
- White scale on faucets, showerheads and fixtures
- A chlorine taste or smell in your tap water
- Scale buildup in your water heater or appliances

Halo FAQs
What is a Halo water system?
HALO Water Systems makes whole-house water filtration and conditioning systems. Its HALO 5 filters water through carbon and other media to reduce chlorine, chloramines and sediment, then conditions hardness minerals with the HALO ION scale inhibitor. Coastline Plumbing is a preferred installer for Halo whole-house water systems.
Does the HALO 5 use salt?
The HALO 5 is salt-free. Its HALO ION conditioner uses permanent magnetic fields so hard water minerals stay suspended in the water instead of attaching to pipes and appliances. HALO says the conditioned water also helps dissolve existing scale over time.
Does a Halo system need maintenance?
HALO describes the HALO 5 whole-house system as maintenance free. Other HALO products, such as the Heater Guardian Elite, use a filter that gets changed. When Coastline Plumbing recommends a system for your home, ask us what upkeep that specific system needs.
Can a Halo system protect my water heater?
HALO says scale shortens the life of water heaters and other appliances, and its systems are designed to prevent scale buildup. HALO also makes the Heater Guardian Elite for tank and tankless water heaters. When we install a whole-house system, we handle integration with your water heater.
